What is Pneumonia ??

Sickness strikes again on my baby! Apparently, pneumonia seems to be the culprit; good thing we had him checked by his pedia early. I wonder what is pneumonia and what causes it. I have browsed the internet and saw this article of wikipedia:

Pneumonia is an inflammatory condition of the lung—especially affecting the microscopic air sacs (alveoli)—associated with fever, chest symptoms, and a lack of air space (consolidation) on a chest X-ray. Pneumonia is typically caused by an infection but there are a number of other causes. Infectious agents include: bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.

Typical symptoms include cough, chest pain, fever, and difficulty breathing. Diagnostic tools include x-rays and examination of the sputum. Vaccines to prevent certain types of pneumonia are available. Treatment depends on the underlying cause with presumed bacterial pneumonia being treated with antibiotics.

Although pneumonia was regarded by William Osler in the 19th century as "the captain of the men of death", the advent of antibiotic therapy and vaccines in the 20th century have seen radical improvements in survival outcomes. Nevertheless, in the third world, and among the very old, the very young and the chronically ill, pneumonia remains a leading cause of death.

Signs and Symptoms

People with infectious pneumonia often have a productive cough, fever accompanied by shaking chills, shortness of breath, sharp or stabbing chest pain during deep breaths, confusion, and an increased respiratory rate. In the elderly, confusion may be the most prominent symptom. The typical symptoms in children under five are fever, cough, and fast or difficult breathing. Fever, however, is not very specific, as it occurs in many other common illnesses, and may be absent in those with severe disease or malnutrition. Additionally, a cough is frequently absent in children less than 2 months old. More severe symptoms may include: central cyanosis, decreased thirst, convulsions, persistent vomiting, or a decreased level of consciousness.

Some causes of pneumonia are associated with classic, but non-specific, clinical characteristics. Pneumonia caused by Legionella may occur with abdominal pain, diarrhea, or confusion, while pneumonia caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae is associated with rusty colored sputum, and pneumonia caused by Klebsiella may have bloody sputum often described as "currant jelly".

Physical examination may sometimes reveal low blood pressure, a high heart rate, or a low oxygen saturation. Examination of the chest may be normal, but may show decreased chest expansion on the affected side. Harsh breath sounds from the larger airways that are transmitted through the inflamed lung are termed bronchial breathing, and are heard on auscultation with a stethoscope. Rales (or crackles) may be heard over the affected area during inspiration. Percussion may be dulled over the affected lung, and increased, rather than decreased, vocal resonance distinguishes pneumonia from a pleural effusion. Struggling to breathe, confusion, and blue-tinged skin are signs of a medical emergency.

Cause

Pneumonia is primarily due to infections, with less common causes including irritants and the unknown. Although more than one hundred strains of micro organisms can cause pneumonia, only a few are responsible for most cases. The most common types of infectious are viruses and bacteria with it being less commonly due to fungi or parasites. Mixed infections with both viruses and bacterial may occur in up to 45% of infections in children and 15% of infections in adults. A causative agent is not isolated in approximately half of cases despite careful testing. The term pneumonia is sometimes more broadly applied to inflammation of the lung (for example caused by autoimmune disease, chemical burns or drug reactions), however this is more accurately referred to as pneumonitis.

Tour at one of the New 7 Wonders of the World -- Underground River Puerto Princesa, Philippines

I had a great weekend last three weeks ago with hubby because we had our very first trip ever as a couple; a trip to the capital of the Palawan Island, Puerto Princesa.

We had our complimentary air fares from Philippine Airlines as a reward by HSBC thru its Mabuhay Miles promo. The flight to Puerto Princesa has lesser turbulence than the return to Manila. The view at the plane’s window is captivating not to mention it’s my first airplane ride! You’ll see the Taal Volcano passing through the Batangas province. It’s a nice experience at the plane.

We had our accommodation at the Microtel Resort Hotel which is 20-30 minutes away from the Puerto Princesa airport. The resort is very nice! It’s clean, the staffs are helpful and kind, the beach view is relaxing! The rooms are very comforting too. The white sand beach is quite unusual for me because there are Mangroves in it. It’s not the swimming type though if you’re courageous you can swim through it at few meters more. The resort has its own pool and restaurant.

Hotel Lobby

On our first day, we had the Underground River tour and it took us two hours or more to reach the Sabang beach. There is one stopover along the way if you need to pee or have a snack; there are also some views to see -- the traditional dwellings of their natives and the Carst Mountain. Upon arrival at the Sabang beach, we had our buffet lunch which is inclusive in the tour package. The food is good. The beach has white sand and the waves are huge. We took a lot of pictures there. After an hour of rest, we headed at the Sabang pier which just 5 mins from the lunch venue. From the pier, it took us 20-30 mins boat ride to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean National Park which is the entrance to the Underground River. From the shoreline, it will take another 10-15mins trek to see the mouth of the river. Just be careful with the monkeys along the trek. There are lots of tourists when we arrived there; 10 boats passed by before our turn. We were geared with life vest and helmet. It’s very dark inside the Underground River; we only have the spotlight as a source of light. There are bats flying around inside the river which might cause the foul odor. The view inside the cave is amazing; it’s huge! You’ll be amazed with God’s creation! After that long trip, we had our first dinner at the resort’s resto and we ordered Charcoal Grilled Suran and Garlic rice. I love the Suran, it’s a new fish meal discovery!

On the following day, we explored the city’s tourist spots. We went to the following: Puerto Princesa Bay, Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral, Plaza Cuertal where the 143 American soldiers were burned by the Japanese colony, Tiangge-tiangge where you can shop for souvenir items, Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center where you can see the crocodile farm and the Nature Park where you can experience the wildlife, Mitra’s Ranch where you can see the landscape of Puerto Princesa, Baker’s Hill which is known for its freshly pastries and breads, and lastly, the Binuatan Creation Showroom where you can experience handloom weaving.

Explore Morong, Bataan...

Well, it’s time to catch up! Let me share with you my adventures at the coastlines of Morong, Bataan and the historical landmark at the Dambana ng Kagitingan.

On April of this year, we held our teambuilding activity at the Coral View Resort, Morong, Bataan but before proceeding to the resort we had a side trip at the well-known Dambana ng Kagitingan. Travel time from the City of San Fernando (P) to Mt. Samat then to the Coral View is approximately three hours. I was quite dizzy with the roads to Morong because there are lots of sharp curves and zigzag roads. I guess it’s scary to travel at night or during heavy rains.

In the Dambana ng Kagitingan, we paid an entrance fee of P20.00 each and P30.00 for the service vehicle; this includes entrance to the museum. Another entrance fee was also collected at the Mt. Samat Memorial Cross. The Memorial Cross is huge; it has a height of 92 meters from the base. Upon looking the cross from the base, you’ll see the clouds moving you’ll get shaky as if the cross was moving. The sight was so nice and clean with an overlooking view since we are in a mountain. In the cross, you’ll need to ride an elevator which can occupy approximately five (5) persons that’s why if there are lots of tourists you’ll definitely wait for your turn because there is a limit of persons that can be accommodated at the top of the cross. In case of brown-out, there is a 14 flight zigzag foot path. Once you are in the arm of the cross which is the main deck, you’ll see a pleasant view of Mt. Samat and nearby mountains with a cold breeze too! It’s fun to take pictures and feel the altitude breeze.

Meanwhile, a visit at the museum will trigger your sense of patriotism. The rules inside the museum are very strict. No picture taking is allowed, no touching of artifacts, no food and drinks! I was quite naughty when I tried to capture the bazookas using my cellphone; later, the security guard of the museum came to me and asked to delete the pictures I captured. He looked individually at my pictures and ensured that it will all be deleted. Then the security guard gave a feedback thru the handheld radio that all the pictures were already deleted; that’s when we discovered that there are CCTV cameras all over the museum. That’s my funny experience I thought they will confiscate my cellphone. I was just amazed with the artifacts and captured them to share it with my family at home. You will see in the museum the pictures of the buildings and the events during the Japanese period. I was devastated to see those pictures and memories of the war. You will see how Filipinos were maltreated by the Japanese colony. There is one photo showing a billboard notice by the Japanese saying that they are the masters and anyone who will fight against them will be considered enemy and be punished. Another photo will show the ruined building of Manila Post Office. There are also live bazookas, machine guns, soldier uniforms and boots, and a lot more artifacts. It’s a good historical connection experience.

We stayed overnight at the Coral View Resort in Morong, Bataan approximately one and a half hour from Mt. Samat. The resort is very nice and clean; the staffs are very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are nice also; they have cottages also for day tour. Built-in obstacle course facilities are also available for teambuilding activities. The shore has grey sand; the beach in front of the resort is not that ideal for swimming. It really goes with the name of the resort – “Coral View”. The corals are located at their beach; you’ll see them at sunset when it’s low tide. There are also quite lots of sea urchins as I was a victim of those. On the other hand, you can explore the nearby beaches if you’re into swimming. There are areas which you can swim or you can also swim at the two (2) resorts’ pool.

On the way home, we bought pasalubong to our families at the Balanga Public Market where it is well-known for their fresh tinapa (smoked fish), tuyo (dried fish) and other sea foods products. Along the mountainous road from Morong, there are vendors who sell fresh and roasted Kasuy; they are so appetizing!

Lastly, another teambuilding activity was conducted on May at Morong, Bataan also. It was at the Waterfront Beach Resort. The resort facilities are the standard type; you’ll be quite disappointed to see the actual than the pictures from their website. The pleasure (for me) is with the beach because it has fine sand you can swim in it no visibility of sea urchins or corals. However, just avoid the jelly fishes ~wink, wink~! Their buffet meals are very good; you’ll be stuffed if you’re hungry.

How to become a better performer

I was inspired in a newspaper article I have read and want it to share with you for your reflection as well. The article encourages workers/ employees to become a better performer in their organization. It was summarized thru the seven (7) pointers:

1. FOCUS – Do not divide your attention among things. Reduce the junk in your workplace; keep your cellphone hidden; close all unnecessary windows in your desktop to stop you from going against your will of surfing the irresistible Internet.

2. MANAGE YOUR PRIORITIES – List down all the things that need to be done, from most important to least important.

3. MOTIVATE YOURSELF – Motivation doesn’t need to be monetary or material. It becomes a positive reinforcement for individuals and we all know that reinforced behavior will be repeated.

4. RELAX – Take breaks! Have peace of mind. A certain level of stress can enable an individual to perform effectively, but when he reaches a certain point, performance decreases.

5. PRACTICE – Practicing makes an activity almost habitual, therefore, the individual will exert lesser effort to perform this activity.

6. KEEP A HEALTHY BODY AND MIND – Do not mix your personal life with your work life. Eat plenty, your body needs energy to expend. Eating enough foods brings blood to your brain, triggering that marvelous machinery up there. However, eating too much will drain a significant amount of blood to your brain and make you drowsy. Get seven to eight hours of sleep.

7. ENJOY WHAT YOU DO – Even if you really, really do not like it, enjoying what you are doing makes huge difference. Make use of your strengths and capabilities when performing. There’s a saying that “You really will learn to love what you worked hard for”. So brave that job responsibility, put a smile on your face, keep a positive outlook, and just enjoy!
I hope you were also motivated. I’ll bear this in mind especially no. 1… wink-wink :-)

Unfaithful

I have a friend who is been unfaithful to the contract of marriage. I was devasted upon knowing my friend is in such dilemma. I really can't belive my friend actually did it. My friend might not realize the consequences of the choices made. Not to mention the scandal when the truth unveils. Sweet talks/ gestures might be a catch but do not fall for it. Trials come in marriage life but be tough and mature to face it. I know we're only humans but moral values must still prevail to keep us safe. Just imagine what your children would say and feel if they knew about it, it would definitely break thier hearts. I hope my friend would overcome the feeling of being taken for granted while in the arms of the caring. It's a complicated life my friend so stop it. I love you and I don't want you to get hurt.

Series of Events

Last Wednesday, I was included as one among the delegates (including our Mayor) to the Presidential Citation Awarding for the streamlining of mayor’s permit in support to the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises at SM Megamall Trade hall 3 wherein Her Excellency Gloria Arroyo will hand over the plaques. I was very lucky to see for the first time the President of the

Philippines

. It was my first experience and opportunity ever to personally see a President of a country in a 10 meter range! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to capture a picture of her because she was surrounded by security and my cam was borrowed to our cameraman. Tsk tsk... have nothing to show as evidence. I got only this pix after having lunch at Kamayan as Mayor’s treat/ remuneration for the job well done.. Sobrang busog, eat all you can.. And I ate everything.. hehehe

Last Saturday, we headed to a kids salon for Lance haircut. And I’m happy to announce that he no longer cried in the process! As in no extra movements, he sat still. Yehey! Here is his picture with the new do:

Next, hubby and I went to Robinsons to see the Ice Age 3, Dawn of the Dinosaurs movie with Lance and his cousins. Ice Age movies are Lance’ favourite. We were anxious if he won’t cry and be afraid inside the cinema. Initially, we asked permission from the admission counter to go inside the cinema first for trial before buying tickets. Then after couple of minutes hubby went out the cinema and reported that Lance was not frightened inside; however, there was nothing playing in the widescreen and some lights were turned on. Eventually, we decided to pursue the movie, we’ll just go out if he cried - we thought. We are just in time for the showing time. Then the lights were turned off, Lance was quiet and staring at the big screen until the movie begun. I observed him and he was attentively watching the movie! At times he will utter “Mammoth!”, “Manny! (Mammoth’s Name); there were instances of shock when Rudy the white dinosaur and Dino Momma will appear and roar. Despite of that, we did not hear Lance crying or see him frown. Yehey! Another milestone! He enjoyed the movie! At last, we did not spend for nothing! Hubby and I are so happy! We had a meal at Jollibee after watching as usual... We got home fulfilled and proud of our baby.. It’s worth spending for... well done my son.. :-) Love you.. mwuah!

~ Parenting Style ~

1. Do you exercise full or minimal control over your child’s / children’s behavior?
>> Lance is one year and 9 months old baby. Control is not strictly imposed on him yet. But hubby and I are sharing the control over Lance. But I think I exercise control most of the time. Because hubby is very busy at work.

2. Do you expect your child / children to obey 100% or let her / him / them do what pleases her / him / them?
>> No, I don’t expect my child to be obedient 100% but I won’t allow him to do all what pleases him, he must learn how to control himself.

3. Do you welcome discussion or you simply set rules?
>> I prefer a discussion to be fair and just.

4. Do you reprimand?
>> I haven’t experience this yet with my baby but with hubby – definitely! Lol!

5. Do you use spanking for punishment?
>> I tried to spank Lance once but he still doesn’t know it.

6. Do you use some kind of a reward System for motivation?
>> Definitely.

7. Do you enjoy being a Parent?
>> A lot but difficult at times. It takes a lot of sacrifices too.

8. Are you a hands-on Parent or do you have a full-time Nanny?
>> At present, my MIL takes care of Lance while we are at work. We employed a nanny 3 times this year and all of them resigned 1-3 days after hiring. :-( But if we are financially capable, I would like to resign from work and be a housewife.

9. At what age would you let your child make simple decisions for himself / herself?
>> I guess Lance already makes simple decision when he had been aware of his surroundings and developed his senses. Like knowing and choosing what he wants to eat, that simple.

10. Do you and your Husband have the same Parenting Style?
>> Not really though there are some things alike.

7. How long have you been married?
>> We got married December 2005, so, it’s been 3 and half years.

8. How do you feel about being a Wife?
>> I am not a perfect wife and fall short of being an ideal wife. I also feel guilty because sometimes I forgot my responsibility as a wife maybe because of our current set-up at home. But hubby is more of service than me.

9. What has been your typical sleeping attire since you got married?
>> It depends. I wear pajamas during cold weather but usually I wear short pants and t-shirt.

10. How do you show how appreciative you are of your Husband?
>> I thank him first then followed with a kiss.

11. What do you do when your Husband annoys you?
>> I usually keep quiet and won’t have eye contact.

12. You are buying or planning to buy your first house as Husband and Wife….
>> Hopefully, we could pursue this in the near future. Everybody wants own their simple abode.

13. How does your house look like at the end of the day when Hubby gets home?
>> Of course, toys are cluttered all over.

14. How do you feel about running a household?
>> I love doing household chores.

15. What is the sweetest gift you have given your Husband so far?
>> I bought him gold bracelet jewelry.

Yesterday, I went to my cousin dentist and requested to extract my wisdom tooth. Extracting wisdom teeth is a difficult task according to my cousin. Maybe because it could lead to dental surgery, and probably due it’s positioning. Luckily, the procedure was successful, though, the tooth wouldn’t move at first. After several pushing, it eventually pulled his way out. Then I saw the wisdom tooth and it’s quite big! I took my tooth home for souvenir. I brushed my tooth first because it’s bloody and removed some of my flesh (yaiks! Hehe) See the photos..

Kuliti, Kuliti sanay sa masikip

Last week, we had to see an ophthalmologist to check Lance’ left eye. It’s been more than a month since we noticed that Lance L-eye is swelling and according to my MIL it’s a kuliti. Sorry don’t know the English term of that. Lance was already medicated with antibiotics last two weeks ago but still the eyes won’t subside. Until my hubby’s cousin doctor saw Lance eyes and recommended to have it checked by an opthal already. The opthal prescribed us eye drops and erythromycin eye cream, and advised to administer warm compress on his L-eye. My MIL and I laughed when he said the latter because all the while we thought it’s not good because eyes are delicate/ sensitive. As per the opthal, kuliti is caused by bacteria usually when Lance would rub his eyes with his hands dirty, or possibly landed on his eyelashes. Fortunately, Lance’ left eye is getting better, and he regains the handsome and cute baby face. Here is his photo with his bulged eyelid

My Brand New Laptop

Oh boy! I already have one and its brand new! This makes one of my wishes come true. Now I can post blog more often (I hope) hehehe... This is just a 2 weeks old baby and it came from Dubai. My brother bought it and I hope he will give it to me for free as a gift hehehe love you bro! The features are really amazing (or am I the only one amazed because I’m not used to this thingy.. hehehe)

It’s a Dell Inspiron 1420. It has built-in camera, microphone, bluetooth, 8-in-1 memory card reader, headphone connector, media control buttons, wifi, dvd-rw, TV-out connector, 200GB media card, 2GB RAM, 200GB HDD and the monitor resolution is really clear. Whew! I am really proud huh?! Hehehe just excited and thrilled to eventually own this. I just hope it will last a lifetime and will not be damaged because of using it as a game boy/ PSP. We installed games last week; hubby and I are into it. We haven’t bought a mouse/ joystick yet including a smart bro/ globe broadband for internet connection. Here are some pics of Dell:

Promotion cum Demotion

Apparently, I'm a dormant blogger in the past weeks. Well, there were changes in the organizational set up of our office. My Supervisor was transferred to another office and was delegated to a new full-time job task. Well, I guess when you're working in a government office personnel movement is quite flexible and unpredictable (permanent positions are not exempted). With that, I am currently appointed as the OIC in our office.

You might congratulate me for this but ironically I was promoted but the corresponding salary did not follow (I'm actually expecting that!). You really don't have a choice - you probably think it doesn't make any sense because we all have our own right to say "No, thanks!" or "Yes, can you increase my salary?". I was not consulted about this. Initially, my Supervisor informed me regarding the "OIC" then I just received my memo of appointment. Well, I guess my silence was interpreted as "Yes, I am accepting it." huhuhu

This was not the first time I was confronted with this kind of situation. 4 years ago (if am not mistaken), my previous Supervisor was also transferred to another office and it was rumored that I will be the acting head because I'm next in rank. Actually in the structure there is still one position level/ salary higher than mine but these personnel are detailed in another office so I was left being next in rank. I was doing their job while they receive the higher pay!!!! Sorry but I can't help to express my grievance. As soon as I knew about me being appointed as the OIC, I immediately e-mailed our then city administrator, who is also our department head, and expressed my sentiments of not wanting that position because of lack of skills. I received a reply saying that my concerns will be considered and referred to the Human Resource Office. As a result, my Supervisor then concurrently managed two divisions but he resides and performing tasks basically in the other office. So, I was tasked to be in-charge of the office, signs some documents in behalf of my supervisor, attends meetings among others - indirectly, it's just the same - am I right? Yet, I'm only receiving a salary grade of 11 (up to present!).

At present, I am facing this big responsibility and would like to try it for the meantime. But most of the time, I doubt if I can really manage the office with three staffs depending on me. Honestly, I am overwhelmed and very thankful for the trust the administration is giving me. However, deep inside me, there is resistance on accepting this. Why? Here are the reasons (in no particular order):

- I am not confident

- I lack managerial skills i.e. planning, sound decision-making, conducting staff meetings, participating management meetings

- I am not a good speaker

- I’m quite slow thinker and stuttered when pressured and in front of people

- I do not ultimately know the mandate of our office because it is not yet established (it’s supposed to be performing internal audit services)

- I don’t look professional

- I am not happy

- I am not that committed (sama ko ba?)

- I’m quite lazy (sama ko talaga?!)

- I have inferiority complex being with the managers and supervisors (or I think of myself as inferior)

- I don’t have the absolute courage

- I have low stress tolerance

- I am detailed-oriented which causes delay at times

Am I stupid or what? I was given this opportunity yet I am hesitant to grab it or should I say I already grabbed it but thinking of dropping it off. Crazy enough?! Bo Sanches’s book “Simplify Life” reads… We give 60% of our waking time to our jobs. If we’re unhappy with our jobs, that makes us unhappy 60% of our lives! To simplify our lives, we need to find what we love doing and get paid for it. We need to find out what our passion is and connect it with our jobs.

I know that all of my reasons are psychological (am I right?). Maybe I just don’t realize and recognize my strengths and capabilities because some people can’t believe that I am not confident about myself. It’s just that the nature of our work requires a competent, tough and independent leader. Am I qualified to the position with this kind of attitude? I know you may simply answer “Change the attitude!” but it’s really not easy struggling with your own self. Consistency is another thing. You may ask what is it that you love or wanted to do – I love being at home serving my family and putting up a bakery shop, if possible. I thought of submitting my resignation but due to financial crisis/constraints it gives me no choice to stay and face the reality which makes me upset. I just hope I could overcome this attitude and have the ultimate courage to move on.

Bonding Time with Typhoon Emong!

Yesterday in the midst of the Typhoon Emong, me, hubby and my friendships struggled to meet up at Zapata's Cantina Mexicana along Fields Avenue in Angeles City. I even crossed the flooded road of the Astro Park just to be with my friends! Even my friend - Yhang, who is 6-months pregnant, took the courage to go out the house. It was raining hard; there were flooded roads and streets, and there was really poor visibility. Despite of all that storm events, we have landed safely in Mexican Resto and got to spend quality time (even it's short) with my friends.. Well, that's what friendship meant.. It was worth the effort because we really had fun and had tried Mexican dishes.. It was our first time to go to that place and you will really feel you're in Mexico! hehehe.. Hospitalized..

A post blessed Lenten Season Greetings to all!

Oh Well, Mr. G finally confiscated my PR 2 and gave back the magic “0”. At least, he gave me a taste of it. -_-

I’ve been inactive for a couple of weeks because my baby got sick. I have mentioned here that my baby acquired colds and coughs due to bad weather and we visited Lance pedia last March 30 (Monday). Unfortunately, my baby was admitted in the hospital last April’s fools’ day (Wednesday) at 8pm. On that same day, my hubby, who is on leave to help in the preparation for our town fiesta – April 3, together with my MIL decided to visit my baby’s pedia because Lance sickness seems to get worse considering we just had his check up 2 days ago. Lance does not want to eat any food, not even his milk; he only wants to drink water the whole day and needs to drink a lot of medicines. Plus my baby vomits about 3-4 times a day which is painful to see. Whenever he tries to eat something, my baby would throw up after a few minutes. My poor baby! Not to mention the difficulty in giving Lance his oral medicines this adds more stress on him. That’s why our pedia recommended confining my baby in the hospital. At first, I was hesitant to admit Lance in the hospital because he might have traumatic experience undergoing it. Then, I asked my pedia what medications would differ if I will admit my baby and she told me that antibiotics will be injected thru the dextrose which is faster and more effective in the healing process also, to prevent my baby from dehydration. So, hubby and I finally decided to admit Lance in the hospital.

After admission, we headed at the ER for the usual medical procedures. My baby started to cry when the nurse tied his right hand with a rubber in order to inject the needle for the dextrose. Lance cried out loud the whole procedure. We cannot stop him from crying and all he uttered was “Mama, Mama!” I know he is asking for help. Then, the nurse proceeded on the skin test for the antibiotics to know if Lance has an allergy/ reaction to the antibiotics. This procedure made Lance angrier and cried out lout painfully. At this point, I can’t help but to cry; feeling guilty and sorry that he has to undergo that. Afterwards, we proceeded to the Imaging Department for an X-ray exam and finally to our room. It took us until 11pm to stop Lance from crying. He fell asleep crying. What made it difficult for us is that whenever somebody will open the door especially a nurse he would be awake crying. Maybe he thinks that they would do the same thing again. Pity Lance… And he has sacrificed in our 4 day confinement at hospital. After his confinement, my baby seems to be scared of people strange to him which is not usual on him before..

The diagnosis on his sickness is Pneumonia on both of Lance lungs. Until now, I am still wondering on the cause of this sickness. I felt that I am a bad mother because I do not take care very well of my baby. I thought I did until that happened. Last Friday, my baby started to have clogged nose again!!!! What is this stupid cold that keeps coming back! I did everything I can to protect him but still this happens. I’m thinking he might have allergy like on dust or in cats – our cat stays inside the house? It’s possible because Lance immune system is suppressed at present. Lance have schedule for Flu Vaccine this month but due to his health condition we need to defer it until next month when Lance is fully recovered. Urgh!

Bad Weather!

I had to had a day off at work yesterday because my baby is sick again. Lance has cough, colds and sore eyes... Tsk tsk poor baby. He has difficulty breathing and even seeing. Whenever he wakes up, he could not open his eyes wide we need to wipe them with wet clothing. That's why I decided to visit our pedia yesterday. When we arriveed at the clinic there were many children patients. And most of them have coughs and colds. I guess babies and children are getting sick because of the super hooooot weather!!! Saturday Time-Out

Last Saturday is a black out day here in Pampanga. And the heat is killing everyone!!! That same day is Lance schedule for his vaccination. We went to his pedia and injected Lance with 5-in-one vaccine, i.e., Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis; HiB; and IPV. Then hubby, I and Lance went to the mall to feel the cool breeze air.. ehehe.. We had lunch at Jollibee as usual. Then we went to Ideal Vision to purchase new eyeglasses of hubby. The old eyeglasses were broken by my very curious baby Lance. Whenever he will be lifted by Papa, Lance will surely grab Papa’s eyeglasses and stretch it wide-open! Poor disabled eyeglasses… We also bought Lance a sunglass.

Then, we proceeded at Robinsons Appliance Center and Abenson’s to look for a washing machine. We are replacing our worn-out washing machine. We chose the LG 8.5kg Washing Machine. It’s a new model with a Power Jet Roller, this will not make clothes tangle while washing, It’s also electricity saver as it produce 280 wattage on its washer and 160 wattage on spinner whereas most of the machines were 400 and 160 wattages. We haven’t purchased the machine until now. Maybe this coming weekends..

Next, we went to Gupit Bulinggit to have Lance haircut. This salon is where Lance had his first haircut ever! My baby still cry out loud but there were instances that he stops crying because he would watch the video of Barney and friends. It’s good to have salons like that there are a lot of distractions for babies to be entertained and forget to be frightened. Lol!

What a day! The three of us were exhausted! Whew! That’s how we spent our weekends..

This is my office bag. It was a Christmas gift from hubby last 2 years ago; I no longer remember the exact amount but I think it costs P1,000+ that time. Inside my overused bag is my 2009 Planner (a Christmas gift of my friend/ officemate); Naraya Coin Purse (haven’t washed it since I bought it last year- yaiks! Lol!); Card Holder; Croc Leather Purse (where my powder, lip gloss, lotion, moisturizer, etc. are kept); Key Purse (I carry lots of key – office locker, house, car) Bulgari Perfurme, (a gift from my SIL when she arrived in the Philippines); Rubbing Alcohol; Mouthwash; White Flower; Sign Pen (a gift from a friend, Angel); Sanitary Napkin; Wooden Fan (newly purchased due to hot weather – ehehe); comb and roller brush. That’s all! I’ve realized I have so many things in my little baggage..

Summer is totally IN !!!

Can you feel the heat?! Yep, it's summer time once again! And I'm thinking to have the usual swimming activity. Last year, I had one post-summer outing and it was during our lakbay aral (an office orientation-seminar) in Batangas last July. Here are some pictures...

I'm excited this year because hopefully it will be the first summer outing of my baby and I'm thinking to buy him swim wear and a "salbabida" (forgot the english version.. hehehe).. Am sure Lance will enjoy the water like enjoying it during bath time. I'm planning it on April 5 since that would be a long weekend I hope this will materialize.. (cross fingers!) I'll definitely post the pix on that day..! Until then.. :-)

Unique Wedding Event

My friend and my brother emailed me the wedding pictures of Jay Contreras (lead singer of the Kamikazee) who is the cousin of my sister in law. How long did I missed updating my bloggy? Hmmmm.. It's been ages... -_-

Anyway, just want to share my valentine's gift from hubby.. Last February 13, I was not expecting anything special like deliveries in my office because Hearts day falls on a Saturday. :-) Until lunch time came, the office messenger of Hubby walked in the office with a box of cake. I read the box and it says "Ala Creme"! I was thrilled and "kilig" to the maximum level of happiness!

Then I opened the box and read the message on top of the cake.. "Happy Valentines from Papa & Lance". It's an overwhelming chocolate cake and it's sooooooo yummy and delicious! My office mates were happy because they will have a soothing chocolate cake for dessert!..

My hubby usually gives me a cake as valentine's gift every year which is being delivered at my office and I love it! That's why I love hubby sooo much because of the cakes.. ahahahaha! ~wink~

My mom and I seldom talk or email in details about my baby's milestones due to our busy lives. A while ago, I had a chance to talk to my mom, Lance' Grandmother a.k.a "Granny", in the YM chat room. She was living in Australia for almost a year now and she failed to see the continuing growth and development of her "apo" - (Grandson).

I told her that my baby knows how to imitate the sounds of a lion, cow, monkey and duck. That he also knows where are his feet, hands, shirt and nose. When you ask my baby to point the elephant, chicken, pig, horse, giraffe, clock, truck, turtle, baby, orange, banana and a lot more he'll show them to you. I mentioned all of these to my mom just today and she was amazed, excited and happy to know his Grandson is "matalino or bright"! She wished to go home in the Philippines at once!

I stiil remember when my mom was still with us, she was very hands on in taking care of Lance. She would voluntarily do everything for my baby. I believe all Grandmothers are like that. They play a very active role in their Grandson's/ daughter's lives, sometimes as if they are the mother of our child. They supersede the real mothers! Sometimes they reprimand you for doing or not doing this to their "apo". In spite of that, they are the ones who shall be commended for sacrificing and pouring out love to our children especially in the case of those working mothers who don't have anyone to rely on but our own mothers/ mother-in-laws. A service which is difficult to pay in return.

Oh my teeth 2!

I visited my cousin, who is an orthodentist, last friday to have my TMJ check up and I've learned a lot about it. As a result, I was diagnosed having a TMJ disorder!

Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJD, TMJ or TMD), or TMJ syndrome, is an umbrella term covering acute or chronic inflammation of the temporomandibular joint, which connects the mandible to the skull. The disorder and resultant dysfunction can result in significant pain and impairment.

There are many external factors that place undue strain on the TMJ. These include but are not limited to the following:

Over-opening the jaw beyond its range for the individual or unusually aggressive or repetitive sliding of the jaw sideways (laterally) or forward (protrusive) - teeth grinding. These movements may also be due to parafunctional habits or a malalignment of the jaw or dentition. This may be due to:

(1) Modification of the occlusal surfaces of the teeth through dental neglect or accidental trauma. (2) Speech habits resulting in jaw thrusting. (3) Excessive gum chewing or nail biting. (4) Excessive jaw movements associated with exercise. (5) Repetitive unconscious jaw movements associated with bruxing. (6) Size of foods eaten.

During my check up, my cousin requested me to answer a questionaire on TMJ symptoms and I am experiencing almost all the symptoms except in the throat. Here are some of the symptoms on the questionare:

Headache: Front Head and Back Head

Eyes: Pain behind the eyes

Ears: Hizzing/ Buzzing

Neck: Neck Stiffness

Jaw: Clicking/ Popping

Throat: Throat Soreness

The treatment my cousin advised is to use a TMJ clear rubber Splint in my lower teeth case. I need to wear the Splint 24 hours in at least 3 months and will remove it only when eating and brushing!

This Splint treatment costs not just a penny but Php15,000! My gosh! Now I'm thinking if I will still continue my teeth braces which costs Php30,000! Oh my teeth! My cousin also mentioned that my TMJ disorder could recurr if I will still continue my incorrect habits that's why I still consider the braces in order not to stop it but due to financial constraints I doubt to pursue the braces. Hu hu hu.... Teeth are really very precious - love them!

I went to my dentist friend a while ago and consulted him initially what treatment he can do with my teeth. I am planning to have my teeth braces this first quarter of the year.

Well, I still don't know what kind of treatment is applicable to the case of my teeth as I will be having my thorough check up tomorrow probably. I have decided to undergo the ortho thing due to constant headache (see the relevance?~wink~) not to mention my teeth are "suki-suki". For the past months, I encounter daily headaches and stiffed nape. Initially, I consulted an Opthalmologist as I assumed it could be my eyes then eventually the doctor gave me brain relaxant and neck exercise. The ache stopped but after a few weeks it came back again. Then I asked my cousin who is a dentist if there is a possibility that an ortho error could cause my headache. And she replied, "Yes, it could lead to migraine also." She also mentioned that she would check on my TMJ (which I forgot to ask the meaning) first before checking the ortho thingy.

Whew! It all goes down to having this thing eventually. I should have had this when I was a little kiddo but my parents wasn't serious about it then. So, here I am wandering the image of the wired teeth of myself. I hope it wouldn't be that bad to look. Well, I'll probably post of some of my pictures before and after the treatment.~wink~ hehe.. Me, hubby and baby had a family day out last Sunday. We went at SM to shop for groceries and a usual dine out lunch. We seldom go out together with Lance that's why we maximized our time that day, after which, we attended the holy mass.

Before shopping for groceries, we had lunch at Jollibee as usual. Whenever we dine out with lance, we always eat at Jollibee because Lance simply loves Jollibee! Yun kc nakagisnan niya.. hehe.. He loves the burger steak, jolli spaghetti and most especially the jolli fries! My baby will insistly point to the french fries and ask for them. When he eats fries, he would insert altogether 3 sticks of fries in his mouth! as if he would never eat them again.. ~wink~

Then, we let Lance experience riding on the car rides for the first time. We let him see first how it works by observing other kids riding on them. My baby was amazed with them and he liked them immediately. Lance rode in three cars and repeated it three times per car! At first, I thought he will get dizzy but he was tough. He even stood up at the yellow car ride while it was moving and he acts as if he really drives a car! Oh boy! my Lance really enjoyed the day.

After resting for a couple of minutes, Lance and his Papa got tickets to ride in the Grand Carousel which is also the first time of Lance. He was astonished with the wooden animals. For the first few minutes, Lance was seated on a horse with his Papa at his side then eventually he grabbed his Papa and wanted to be carried. Poor baby he might got dizzy that time..

After SM, we went to our church for the holy mass. Unfortunately, we were not able to finish the mass as my hubby was quite uncomfortable due to Lance behavior. Lance wants to walk all the time and he reaches every plant in the church's garden. Me and hubby couldn't listen attentively to the homily. So, I carried my baby to stop him but Lance was so furious and insist on letting him go. But I remain firm in saying "NO" which makes little Lance really mad. You know what he did?! He bit Mama on the cheek! I was frustrated and confused with his behavior.. Is this a normal behavior of a one-year and three months old baby?

Hi! Sorry I wasn't able to update my blog the past weeks due to the busy holidays. Anyway, a new year was opened again.. As I reminisce the past year, a lot of events/ happenings occurred:

~Last January, my college friend Faye came back from US and we had a reunion dinner with friends in college.

~Last February, my mom had her visa approved and took off to Australia. She has to stay there for at least four years to have her immigrant visa approved. She left the country together with my cousin who was also granted visa to live in Australia.

~Then on May, my brother had a civil wedding. A few weeks later on the same month my brother took off to Dubai with his wife.

~Last June, my colleague Ann came back from Dubai. She gave us chocolates as gifts.

~On September 28, my baby celebrated his 1st birthday in Jollibee.

~The city mayor gave me and hubby a lunch treat on birthday at Dencio's. My unforgettable birthday!

~Last December 27, my friendship Grace got married with our friend Dexter.

~Both my college friends Rodelyn and Faye conceived their eldest child as well as my friendship Yhang.

~First time to celebrate Christmas and New Year without my mom and my brother.

Whew! Fortunately, I have recorded these on my journal and recalled all the things happened in my life. All bad things made/ happened in the past year must be forgotten, as the thought on my new journal says: "Don't let the past hold you back, you're missing the good stuff!" So let's make new beginnings this year. I hope and motivated to make this new year fruitful. Happy New Year to all! Happy New Beginning!

Christmas Party!

I almost forgot to share our company party. It was held last December 13 at the Pampanga Convention Center. It was a Saturday, and it's the only available schedule of the venue which is the only place we, 1,000 plus city hall employees, can be accommodated.

The main program was the Dance Contest among departments and the theme of the contest is folk dances. This year the participants of the contest are the department/ division/ section heads since every year the rank and file employees are usually the participants. The city councilors had their part too..

Then, of course, there was also raffle draws - the most awaited part - wherein I won a half cavan of Denorado Rice!!! hehehe.. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to win the major prize - P20,000 cash tsk tsk!

After the party, my hubby and I went to our friend's house (Alain's) for a get together with my hubby's college friends and am the only gal. We drunk a few bottles of beers and a soothing coffee after. We arrived home around 1:30am - we were exhausted. :-)

Giant Lanterns!

It's 6 days to go before Christmas! And we haven't started our shopping list! Urgh! We might gate crash Robinsons Starmills tomorrow and take chance of the Midnight Sale. Incidentally, tomorrow will be the Giant Lantern Festival and it will be held at Robinsons for the first time (usually it's in SM).. Am pretty sure the mall will be crowded with lots of lots of people.. Sigh!

Anyway, let me share with you the pride of Pampanga - the Christmas Capital of the Philippines (City of San Fernando) where you can only find the Giant Lanterns! Yep! These giant lanterns are eighteen (18) feet in diameter and with an average of 5,000 bulbs! Imagine that?!

Friendships get together

I am alive again! haha… I have quite busy days the past week..

After my 2-day seminar last November 30 (Sunday), I went to SM to meet up my Friendships (high school barkada) in Philippines – only 5 are remaining. That day was special as we have a complete attendance, this rarely happens. Also, 2 among us including my hubby are having their birthday this December. Our initial point of meeting is at UCC Café Shop then we headed to TEMPURA resto for the most awaited dinner. Take a look of our pics at Tempura:

Men do change after Marriage?

We had a 2 consecutive day celebrations. Yep! December 4 to 5 are big celebrations for me and hubby.. Why? – December 4 is our Wedding Anniversary and December 5 is my hubby’s birthday! Well, good thing for me as I can able to save my gift for hubby – 2 in 1 gift - --wink--

We had a very simple celebration. On our anniversary, we ate breakfast at Chowking before going to work. The next day, after office, we ordered out meals from Jollibee and watched the last full show of “Twilight” movie. The movie was so great; no doubt it’s number one! How I wish hubby is a vampire.. hahaha

The cinema was almost full when we arrived. Luckily, we got seats at the balcony. My hubby was seated at my left. Then, I’ve noticed that we were surrounded by couples and they are all in hugging position. While finding my comfort zone at my seat, I unconsciously rested at my left. Then my hubby jokingly uttered “Bakit ka naka-lean dito??!” I was shocked and ashamed to hear that. Nakakainis.. Then I recalled and told myself.. “Nung magboyfriend pa tayo eh todo yakap ka na parang naka-glue pa kamay mo sa pagyakap! Hmmp!” After that I moved away from him! Hmmp! I thought he was joking at first and eventually he will wrap his arms around me but I’m wrong! The whole time we’re watching movie we didn’t even get closer, as if we were not related. In fairness to my hubby, there are still sweet gestures he does/ continue after our marriage, 50%-60% I guess. But it is a fact that men really do change after marriage.. Isn’t Sises? I don’t mean total change but there are certain sweet things that husbands stop doing/ showing after years of marriage. Sometimes I tend to miss that gestures it makes me feel “I‘m wanted”. Well, I can only make face about it and can live with that as long as my hubby is loyal with me. Am I right?

Movie Marathon

During our 3-day seminar in Malate last week, my colleague (Kat-kat) and I explored the Robinsons Place Ermita. It's our first time to go there and and it's quite a big mall. We were confused with the sections/ "wings" of the mall. Cinemas there are distributed among the "wings". 4 cinemas are located at Pedro Gil Wing, 3 at the Midtown Wing, the remaining I forgot :)

Anyway, on our first night, we watched the CITY OF EMBER. This movie is a must-to-see! It's a suspense fiction movie and it will cause you nervous breakdown! hehehe.. Here's the synopsis:

In the core of the earth, there lies a town (Ember) with a huge generator supplying their electricity. After so many years, the condition of the generator is becoming weak and is starting to collapse. Without the generator the city will be very dark. That's why the engineers and architects who built the Ember left a written instructions on how to get on the top of the earth in case of the destruction of the machine. This instructions which was time locked in a box was passed to the Elected Mayor of the city. The box was neglected and was kept in the dwelling of an ex-mayor, until the box was opened.. 3 children who were being arrested by the bad incumbent mayor tried to escape Ember through the help of the torn instructions. Did they able to get out? Well, find out at cinemas near you..

On the second night, we watched the PASSENGERS. This is a horror-suspense movie and will keep your mind wonder until the end of the movie. Here's the synopsis:

A lady psychiatrist was tasked to help the victims of a plane crash recover from the tragedy. In the course of her therapy, a theory that the crash was caused by an explosion of the right wing of the plane had evolved instead of a pilot error which is being claimed by the airline company. The airline company was unhappy with this. Her patients are missing one by one on their therapy sessions. Until, two patients were left - a woman and a guy, who fell in love with the doctor. Finally when no one was left but her, a shocking revalation daunted her.. Is she alive or not? See it for yourselves..

Hey am back.. I attended a three-day seminar in Malate, Manila last week and had to take a leave from work yesterday to have Lance check up..

We are so anxious with Lance health because his coughs and colds won't heal, this lasted for almost a month now. He gradually lost his appetite.. he won't eat rice even Cerelac. He doesn't even like that much milk, he consumes milk around 20 oz or less a day. He will also take a few bites of crackers.. he totally lost his appetite last week which caused dropping his weight from 10.6kg to 9.09kg in a period of 1 week! My heart breaks when I see my baby like this.. weekly he is taking different kinds of antibiotics and anti-asthma but still his illness recurs.. then last sunday he got high fever.. That's why my hubby and I decided to look Lance health seriously and try changing his pedia..

Yesterday, we (me, hubby, my baby and MIL) went to Dr. Rebecca Arceo, family pedia of my hubby. She found small lymph nodes under my baby's ears and she instructed as to have Lance undergo xray exam. While taking the xray, Lance was so frightened with the machine he was screaming out loud.. my poor baby! Since the results will be released until 4pm, my MIL volunteered to wait for it and we go ahead home instead so that Lance could rest. When my MIL told me that the result was Pneumonia.. I wasn't able to react for a couple of minutes. My mind was blank. Then I thought what could be the cause.. I browsed the net and found this on the DOH site "Pneumonia may be due to an infection caused by any bacteria, virus, fungi or microbe. The most common caused of pneumonia are bacteria. Sometimes dust, chemicals, or food accidentally enter the lungs may also cause an inflammatory reaction that can lead to pneumonia."

My baby was not confine in the hospital yet.. he is under medication and observation until thursday. if he has still fever we need to visit his new pedia on thursday.

Inspite of the illness, my baby is still happy and playful.. though at some point he has bad mood maybe because he is feeling some pains. I just hope and pray that my baby will recover fast. Eventually, we will surpass this illness with our love and diligent care. I know God is taking care of my baby.. He will be fine soon.. Still including my baby in your prayers will be of great help and appreciated..

My Sick Baby..

My baby lance is sick.

Again and again.. he has colds and coughs! Last Saturday, we visited his pedia for his chicken pox vaccination and for his illness. Her pedia suggested to have Lance undergo a "TUBERCULIN" test because Lance had colds and coughs every month as indicated in his medical record. This test will determine if Lance has primary complex.. If his test will be positive, he will undergo 6 months medication!!!! His weight is slowly progressing.. 0.1 to 0.3 kilos per month.

I was wondering and saddenned with my baby's health.. What could be the cause of this? No one in our family has TB.. although due to climate, we have colds and coughs from time to time..

Yesterday, i had my day off as my baby had fever due to his vaccination and illness (pity Lance).... we had our bonding time together..

I hope and pray that he will have an excellent health.. my poor baby.. love you so much!

Tragic All Saints Day!

Hi everyone..! am quite busy my boss loaded me with tasks...

Anyway, just want to share my November 1 experience.. My hubby and I went to my lola, and tito's grave in the morning of that day.. After that we went home already. We were not able to visit the departed relatives of my hubby as we have stay home because Lance can't go to the cemetery as he is still recovering from his colds and coughs.

While driving home around 1pm, we encountered traffic in the "North Luzon Expressway". I said to my hubby there is a car accident.. there were patrol cars of NLEX, media, police. Gosh the accident could be terrible i told my hubby. Then, we were shocked to see first the car's engine! then we saw a Toyota Revo cut in half at the cliff of the road.. you will see the base of the vehicle (sorry am not familiar with the terms).. the passengers of that are surely not alive! A few meters away, we saw a bus (Fermina Express) and luggage of passengers are scattered. We were shocked to see such scene. Luckily, we didn't see the victims as it would be more tragic to see bloody people..

I want to share the reflections on the book of Bo Sanchez, "Simplify and Live the Good Life". Below are the points which I like most. These points are the unified meaning of SIMPLIFY.

> Simplicity is having the time and space to embrace what is most important to you.

> Satisfaction doesn't come from getting what you want but wanting what you already have.

> We should always live below our earning capacity.

> If in my soul I deeply respect and value myself, people around me will sense that, and they, too, will value and respect me - whether I'm wearing an Armani or not.

> If you don't plan how you'll spend your money, you'll also end up in the same place financially: you'll have nothing at the of day.

> Don't work only for the money.

> Don't take living simply to the extremes. Living simply doesn't mean living in deprivation. Balance!

These would help us refrain from making debts and unnecessary expenses. Eventually making our savings account richer and our lives happier.

Unproductive Monday...

Hi everyone!

Yesterday, we were all unproductive here in the office as the electricity is on and off.. as in!!! not to mentioned the weather.. ang init!! the circuit breaker of the building was broken.. we were unable to see our work in the dark.. we were only chit chatting all afternoon and had a birthday treat from my colleague Kat-Kat (thank you for the food!).. that's how i spent my monday.. hope it will be better today...

Yaya got scared..

Last Sunday, my hubby and I hired a yaya for Lance.. She was supposed to start working yesterday but we required her to have an x-ray and stool exam first as suggested by my BIL (a medtech). Yesterday morning, my MIL accompanied the yaya (who seems to be upset) at the nearby hospital for the x-ray exam. Since the result will be released in the afternoon, my MIL told the yaya to come back this morning and probably she can start working as it seems the x-ray result is just find as mentioned by the radiologist then her stool exam could be done later..

While eating breakfast this morning, she arrived with a sad looking face. Then she uttered "Ate, hindi pa ko nkapagpatest ng dumi ko baka may skit pala ako na diko alam baka maapektuhan pa ang baby mo.." I sensed that she is conveying something to me. Then I bluntly asked her if she is still interested to work for us and she replied "hindi na ako interesado, Ate.." At one point during our conversation, the yaya suprisingly said "..kc Ate sinabi ku naman sa iyo na wala akong skit pro di kayo naniwala wala pala kayong tiwala sa akin.."... Huh???!!! Then I told her "hindi nman sa wala akong tiwala.. sinabi ku naman sa iyo na mukhang wala ka nman sakit naniniguru lang ako.." Before the yaya left, I thanked her for coming..

Are we rude to require her those medical exams? We just want to make sure that the yaya has no illness as she will be handling my baby very often.. I've heard of many stories on yayas with TB and those babies they nursed acquired "primary complex". Our concern is for the welfare of my baby.. Is that too much to ask???

Simplify and Live the Good Life

... and I would like to thank him for that!

I have finished reading it already.. I was inspired and awakened (as Eds mentioned)..

As described in this book, you will alter your priorities and start focusing on what is most essential to your happiness. You will transform the way you use money and you will raise the quality of your most intimate relationships to a higher level - because you'll discover that they are the source of your greatest joys.

Bo's principles are so practical that you can adopt it easily in one's life..

I want to share with you some of the book's insights on how to save your money creatively...

The moment you get your salary, give your tithes first (tithe is in the Old Testament law which means giving 10% of your income to the Lord). Second, give at least 10% of your income to your savings account. Third, give to your "irregular expense" account - these are expenses that don't come each month like tuition fees, car insurance, or repairs. Figure out what irregular expenses are in your life and know how much they cost in total each year. Divide this figure by 12 and that's what you set aside.

Other ways to save money are as follow:

1. Automatic Savings - arrange with your employer or your local bank to regularly set aside a certain amount of your monthly salary for your savings - before you ever see it!

2. Save your Raise - allot your raise to your savings and live within your old paycheck

3. Keep Paying Loans After the Loans Are Paid Off - keep sending the same amount not to the creditors but to your savings account!

4. Hold On to Unexpected Cash - Received a bonus? cash gift from your parents? Keep this in your savings account - not in your wallet - because all wallets have invisible holes and money kept in them has been known to vanish within 24 hours!

5. Give up Expensive Habits - compute your savings if you give up smoking, buying Lotto tickets or eating an extra sweet snack

6. Sell Assets - sell all the clutter in your home (stuff that you no longer use)

Am trying to adopt the above principles at present.. And it's not that easy huh..! Maybe, I'll just start in small amounts first until I master budgeting our family income.. I just hope i would be successful and patient in dealing with this..

I hope somehow you were enlightened by this and will try it as a way of life..

Birthday Girl!

Hi! I've been in a long vacation.. I was on leave last thursday and friday.. because last thursday is my birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!) and since friday is an "ipit" day i made it a holiday as well.. hehe..

Well, I'm already 28 years old!!!! I thought am only 25 or 26.. kidding aside at some point i really thought that I am still at that age.. then i realized am not getting younger anymore... Anyway, enough for the drama.. I'll share with you now my unforgettable birthday moment, here it was..

Last thursday, i woke up at 7am had breakfast and cooked lunch for my baby and hubby's clan.. then my hubby (who is on mandatory leave the whole last week) and i went to my OB-GYNE for my 1st pap smear. afterwards, we went to Sto. Niño to drop and give my brother's habilin (someone will go to dubai).. We were suppossed to attend the mass in Catherdral unfortunately the mass is almost over.. Since it's already lunch time we were undecided where to eat until i decided that we go to the Robinsons Starmills and have lunch at Dencio's Bar and Grill Restaurant.

We ordered krispy pork sisig, sinigang na bangus belly, oriental chicken barbeque, and one order of plain, bagoong and garlic rice, also bottomless iced tea.. While waiting for our food, my department head/ city administrator walk in at the back entrance of the restaurant then i noticed the city mayor is coming next... my dept. head was looking around until he noticed and approached me.. i was shocked to see them of all the place and day, why now i asked myself.. then my boss asked me if i'm on leave and why i'm on leave (is he investigating or what?? hehe).. then i said "i'm on leave Sir because it's my birthday.." My boss was surprised to hear that he then went to his group.. at that point i want to get out of the resto and eat elsewhere.. harrrrr! i bet he told the city mayor about it.. and i'm right! a few minutes later the city mayor walk towards our table and greeted me a happy birthday! and asked me who is with me.. then i introduced my hubby.. the city mayor said.. "balaku mipaglolo kayu pmu!" which means "akala ko nagliligawan pa lang kayo..!" i can feel the blood rushing my face..! after a short talk, he went back to their table.. hayyyy.. i wished he went out of the resto.. hehehe..

When we're almost over eating, i can see the waiter talking to the city mayor and pointing at us.. what could that be, i asked my hubby... then i thought he might give us dessert! hahaha! but nobody was coming over.. hehe! until we asked for the bill, then the waiter said "ma'am, your bill was already paid by the city mayor!" we were surprised!!!!! i was not even personally close to the city mayor.. hehehe.. we had free birthday lunch!!! before we left the resto, we went to the city mayor to thank him and appreciate the treat.. hehehe.. i never imagined that would happen to me on my big day.. i won't forget my birthday this year..

After that sumptuous lunch, we watched the movie "My best friend's girl". It was a romantic comedy film of Kate Hudson.. I'll rate it 4 stars...

Since we had a free lunch, we went to Silky Touch (a beauty salon) for a facial for myself and foot spa with pedicure for my hubby (his first time, hihihi..)

Whew! what a day! my day was ended with a romantic evening with my hubby.. hehehe..

LANCE 1st Birthday Party!

Whooola! I'm here again! it's been a while huh?! At last, I'll share with you my baby's 1st birthday party last September 28.. It was held at Jollibee Intersection CSFP around 4pm.. Here's our itinerary on that day:

~ Had breakfast (in my in-laws house)

~ My BIL (a teacher and pursuing his doctorate degree) did the first haircut (just a few strands) of Lance (it's a "kaugalian" to have your baby's 1st haircut from someone who's intelligent so that your baby will be intellegent when he grows older)

~ Attended Holy Mass

~ Went to "Gupit Bulinggit" for Lance formal haircut

pity Lance.. he was tired after and slept right away..

~ Went to my mother's house (Calulut) for my baby's video and pictorial

~ Off to Jollibee for the party!

We thought our guests won't come as it was raining that day due to typhoon. Luckily, 122 guests celebrated with us.. Some of them stayed at the common area as the function room was jam-packed! First, let me show you Lance long hair..

Hi there am back at work! I can say that Lance party was a blast! except for the tables setup.. I'll tell the whole story of party when I received the pictures/ video from our photo/videographers.. hehe..

Meantime, i'll share with you the gifts Lance received on his big day.. we opened his gifts the next day as we were exhausted on my baby's big day.. My son is so happy with his new toys.. he got a remote control 4x4 pick up truck, 2 bikes.. (i think his papa is much excited.. hehehe).. he also got a toothbrush but most of his gifts are clothes, clothes and clothes.. Take a look..
